In purchasing Altice from Optimum from the Dolan family, the new owners are looking to squeeze as much money as possible out of their subscribers. Call Optimum Support and plug in a new modem while you're on the call, give it the new CMAC address, and you'll save $120 a year. I installed this to get rid of the optimal $10 modem rental fee (I live in northern New Jersey). The installation took 2 minutes, you connect the modem, go to the optimal page to activate the modem, enter the serial number, the modem will restart automatically and you're done.

The one I got to replace the broken one (same model) doesn't sync to Optimum Online no matter what I do without a tech involved. Not sure if like the other poster says it has the wrong MAC address for my area or if it's blacklisted, but it's completely useless to me as is. Otherwise they are good modems, I wouldn't have needed a second one if the cable connector hadn't broken the first time.

I highly recommend this modem. Big money savings! I bought this to replace my Optimum modem after they increased their modem rental to $10.65/month or $127.80/year.
