Nice but broken

I really liked this halter. Beautiful and unique. Hard out of the box but softer after use. Would have given 5 stars but the left metal buckle broke into about 3 pieces. Mind you, I know my horse can break halters over time; However, it is more likely a defective buckle. It literally fell apart. The halter is for dribbling only and is not a reason for a turn. Unfortunately, Revane says I'm about 23 days past due for my return date.

Pros
  • Adjustable nose and double wedge buckles on top
Cons
  • Modern

Poor leather quality but nice design

Although the braided leather design looks nice I am very disappointed with the quality of the leather. It's so tight I had to ask my husband (who also struggled) to open it! I've soaked it in a bag of oil for 24 hours, patted dry and applied a quality leather conditioner twice and it still bends hard. If it had a side clasp it wouldn't be as much of a problem because I would only have to deal with the buckle once.

Pros
  • Fits most horses
Cons
  • Tradeable

Halter Junk Piece

You get what you pay for. My horse had this halter on for a total of two weeks before tearing it up by throwing his head back too far (not even fully back). "Thin skin" is not like that. It was so stiff that it came out of the box and I had to soak it in leather conditioner for an HOUR before I could undo the buckle. The braid isn't leather, it's plastic, and after two weeks of use, it's scratched and not pretty at all. Additional leather care (saddle soap, conditioner, etc.) did not improveโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Round Latch
Cons
  • Problems
