Works, but far from plug and play

On paper it has many advantages. Beamforming technology, WiFi6 compatible, USB3 connection and made by TP-Link, the same company that makes my Deco mesh router system. So it should be very easy to install on the most popular operating systems (Windows 10), just plug in and BAM! Fast and stable WiFi! Right? Not as much. This device features FOMO. It can thrive when you have low signal strength to the access point, but if you have a good enough signal it will only oscillate between 2.4GHz and…

Starts to break after about 10 months of use

EDIT 01/29/2021: After about 10 months of using this adapter it started to become more and more unstable. It does not maintain a stable connection WHEN plugged in, running speed tests show that its download (and upload) speeds are everywhere. It also started dropping "micro" connections every 10 minutes. So when I moved to a country house with old walls etc., I was disappointed to find that my laptop's internal WiFi chip could only reach 70Mbps. where dbi is to be used (stronger, more reliable compared to distance), walls and interference etc. And this adapter was a simple install with a driver download and install (no reboot. It integrates the wi-fi control into the…

Started with 5 stars, moved to 1, now up to 3

5 stars. This is a replacement for a simple plug-in wireless N adapter. We couldn't stream 4K movies on our home network, so we decided to give it a try. Installation was easy. You either plug it directly into a port on your computer, or you use a mount to insert it and run a cable from the port to the mount. Because this particular computer only had 3.0 ports on the front and not the back, we decided to use a stand instead of sticking out the front of the computer. It looks great in a stand…
