Tesla has a charging connector that is almost invisible. Once I installed this I was able to see my phone and use it. More importantly, I rarely leave my phone in the car.

Attach this phone holder to the top left edge of my Model Y's display. It holds my 6 inch phone in the perfect spot for field of view without taking my eyes off the road. There are no problems and there was not a single case of the phone falling out of the holder.

The design is amazing, it folds back onto the screen so you can't see it when not in use. It holds the iPhone firmly, but you must have a nickel pad on the back of your iPhone. I also got an iPad mount from this seller and their quality is reliable!

Installation was easy and the adhesive is very strong. I even removed and reused the device after installation and the glue still worked! My only complaint is that it couldn't fully support the weight of my phone and case at an angle. If I flexed the joint after a few minutes of riding and a few bumps, the elbow would just straighten out and the phone would lose its position. The holder adjusts to different angles and folds away when not in use. With the nickel patch on the iphone, it keeps the phone very stable and does not affect the wireless charging function. The design is awesome and I would definitely recommend it to all Tesla users!

It's difficult to find a phone mount that fits the Model Y, but I think this is one of the most suitable Tesla-compatible mounts. It has the same screen color, foldable design and sturdy magnet. Haven't tried much DIY but following the instructions seems perfect once you put it in the top left corner of the screen.

Edit: I've updated the rating to 4 stars. I tried the mount with a different case and it holds up well. Didn't inspire confidence in me, but the phone was pretty stable during a long trip. Not a lot of beating so can't say how it will perform on bumpy roads but it seems to be getting the job done so far.
