Just metal plate and magnet

I don't like the coax cable they used, saw what was wrong, I noticed the shoulder of the washer was cracked and replaced it with one others, and tried to rewire the coax with the plastic piece provided, I was wondering if the tram had just added a ring of fire, maybe it would work better. The money is only worth the plates and the magnets also depend on what kind of car you have. I have a Pontiac GT Grand Prix with a magnetic sunroof that doesn't stay on top of the car.

Pros
  • 18 feet of low loss Rg58a/U coax cable
Cons
  • Some little things

Works great in accessories and consumables

I drive a Subaru Crosstrek which has limited space and appropriately shaped surfaces to accommodate many 3/8x24 antenna mounts, let alone those that have a decent connection to the body. I ordered this magnetic mount as I knew its limitations and was planning to test it with a friend's vector analyzer. I originally planned to use a set of faux hamsticks, but after the first few contacts I switched to a manual screwdriver antenna - that's a story for another report. Conclusion: My experience…

Pros
  • Soft wellies with magnets to protect against scratches
Cons
  • No insurance

If you value your radio, think twice.

This looked like a good solid mount. However, if you use it in the rain, the connection at the base will short out if water gets in. It is not weatherproof. The SWR went through the roof and destroyed my radio. I took apart the magnet mount to see what went wrong. The connections are not soldered at all, but simply pressed against the antenna connector. The base is not sealed and water enters the antenna short to ground and the direct short between the center wire of the coax and the outer…

Pros
  • 18 foot Rg58a/U Low Loss Coax Cable
Cons
  • Style 90

I am very happy with this magnetic mount.

Very happy with this magnetic mount. It's a bit big but it's what I needed. The magnets stick to the top of the truck body very well (it takes about 45 pounds of force to start lifting from one end). The magnets are also covered with a rubber protective sleeve to keep scratches to a minimum. I removed the base of the antenna leaving a 1/2" X 1/2" square hole and installed a safety flag. The base on which the magnets are mounted is machined from 7/32" thick steel and is beautifully chrome…

  • UHF Plug Pl-259 with strain relief

Take a risk if you want.

I wish I could give more than 3 stars but I can't. The overall build quality is great, it is very heavy as it looks in the photos and is expected to be difficult to move, especially if you place it on a nice flat surface and have to let go to move it. The biggest problem I had was that I couldn't even get my SWR readings anywhere near values below 3. I took the plugs apart, double checked everything, everything seems fine, added some ground and thought maybe that's the problem. I didn't even…

Pros
  • Chrome steel magnet body
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
