Troxel Spirit Helmet Black Medium Review

This is my first horse. I'm 63 years old and after suffering a head injury in 2007 I knew I needed a helmet for everything. My head injury required 5 stitches and 19 staples on the back of my head. This helmet covers my whole head and goes under the trauma scar. I am very happy with it and feel safe next to my horse and other horses in the orthosis when grooming and riding.

I confess I don't have much reason to compare, I've always been one of those risky fools who rode without a helmet but now that I have a daughter I've decided that I should do must be somewhat more safety conscious. This is my first riding helmet and I have no complaints. This is a very comfortable fit and can easily be adjusted to fit any head size. (I was able to put it on my head with no problem, but then I was able to shrink it to fit my 10 year old nephew comfortably.) The color is lovely.

This is a great looking helmet but I am deducting 1 star because the color description is incorrect. It says mint, and the color looks mint green on my computer screen, but it's actually a lot bluer. I bought a small one for my 9 year old girl whose head size I measured 22 inches. It fits, but the look of the helmet is so huge! Because of this, she looked very crooked. This must be for an adult, the horse on the side suggests it is a child's helmet.

We are a trail riding company. We have used Ovation and of course love Troxel. I think I like this helmet best. It is not only very beautiful but also adjustable. We love the adjustable Ovations, but they look a bit clunky. We use Troxel Western but they are not regulated. This gives a sleek, adjustable look. This particular helmet was ordered for a very tall man. It just suits him. So they are a good size. Because we think we only have one brain, we will always wear helmets!

Absolutely perfect my 5 year old daughter was starting to ride and we didn't want to share the helmets with other kids. The instructor suggested Troxel and we chose this one. Bought the small one and it fits her perfectly (the dial adjustment is awesome). She definitely has room to grow. It gives her a "bob" head, but she loves it and it protects her head. I read the reviews on this helmet and bought it because it was a great price. Several reviews said the large size would fit an adult, but I ordered the medium size and it fits perfectly. It was sealed in a plastic box and is a beautiful glossy black color with no blemishes. It has a handle on the back that allows you to further adjust the size and fit, which is great. While I agree that a helmet shouldn't be a fashion item, but rather a piece of gear designed to protect you, my only complaint…
