🚲 High-Performance Dart MTB 26 x 2.10 Inch Front Bead Tire - Foldable & Tubed, Black/Amber Review

I love the Smoke&Dart tire set, I ride a 26lb full suspension bike, it's almost impossible to achieve such low weight without these tires or a fortune on very light carbon components to spend This is my second set of these.

I first bought a dart/smoke kit in 1988 when I got a high school gift. I've had the same original kit on my bike ever since, can't believe they still make them. They're a bit worn and the sidewalls are a little tattered, but 33 years less tires seems like a worthwhile investment. The camera was failing me so I decided it was time to tackle the tires as well.

One of my bikes is an old Trek 970 Single Track I bought in 1990 and if I remember correctly I believe it originally came with Panacer tires. They last a long time, only the fourth tire was bought for the rear and a third tire for the front. I have to admit that as I get older I don't mountain bike as much as I used to, but as I ride more "flat" trails I get more miles per ride.

I was happy with my old Panaracer Smoke Dart tire - it grips the sand well. When I replaced it I figured the easiest way would be to order the next one. The old one was 2.2 inches but I figured 2.1 would still be ok. When installed and inflated to the recommended pressure, it is only 1.85 inches in diameter. He's already making himself felt. Since it was installed I don't know if I'll get it back but I'll take a look.

I've tried so many other tires but the Smoke Front/Dart Rear combo is simply the best for wet driving. Riding on a gravel road or in very dry conditions with very hard surfaces are the only two conditions where this combination doesn't excel. I know we're seeing them on a 26" hardtail because owners keep the 'period correct', but I'm going to put ALL the high performance tires on my MB-1 and pick them anyway. with the Panaracer GK+ Knobby on another bike for dry trails and fire. road driving…
