🚗 Tuffy Flip-Up License Plate Holder with Hawse Fairlead for Winch - Black (Model 01) Review

I was disappointed with the overall quality of this item. The two piece license plate holder doesn't seem strong enough. Very thin steel and on top of that the paint was scratched when I received it. It can be seen that a very thin layer of paint was applied. The hardware was also of poor quality. I had to replace the nuts and bolts with better ones. Works as intended, but the build quality just leaves a lot to be desired.

This simple yet ingenious detail is amazing. This is a great solution for states that require a front license plate when working with a winch. This supports the front panel and is easy to get up and out of the way if you need to use the winch to hoist it up. It is very easy to install and seems reliable. This solution costs a lot less than many other options I've seen on the market and serves the same purpose.

Great product but only works really well if you already have a plate winch. The bumper mount is not included (because it is behind the winch plate and needs to use the included screws). pushes him forward. All in all it has served its purpose and if I can get a winch it will be ready to go.

First of all. It was packaged better than I expected. It was very easy to put together if you have mechanical skills. Before I found out I was confused about how the plate stays down or up. Between the two pieces of the frame are nylon washers that hold the plate up or down depending on how tight you tighten the screws. Once tightened they stay in place so you don't have to adjust them. The plate stays wherever you put it. Everything fit perfectly and was easy to assemble.

Fine. The problem I had was that it wasn't deep enough to remove the fairlead and hook. My winch is a Warn so that size should be pretty standard. It would be nice if I left the hook connected to the shackle on the bumper, but I prefer to leave it on the fairlead and folded. I was able to use the holder by taking it apart and flipping it over so the plate would hang under the beak. So now it's really just a license plate holder instead of a cover. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I love a state where a front license plate is mandatory. I recently installed a Rampage conversion bumper but didn't want to drill holes in a brand new bumper to put a license plate on. I was looking for options and found this one.
