Unless you have something that requires a very high flow, this 6020 is way too powerful for a 10 gallon tank. My cleaner shrimp hid from the current. It's so powerful. According to the instructions it is the same as the 6040 and the only difference is that you can use a controller that controls the 6040 and can generate waves, pulses etc, but it looks like you are NOT connecting the 6020 to the controller be able.
