I don't know what covers people bought saying they were made out of very thin material. I ordered two and they are like canvas with impregnation inside. They appear to be well made.

They are not true island quality but the canvas seems quite durable. The tightening cord is difficult to tighten due to its rigidity. If you install them when it is very cold outside, you may want to warm them up first, otherwise they risk being blown away by strong winds.

The seller behaved normally, but I was disappointed with the very thin material. I don't think it will withstand the harsh weather. My average durability and cost ratings are based on my expectations, not experience. Just take a look. I also bought a cloth bag at the same time and was very satisfied with this product.

I installed these covers for Hurricane Dorian, which ended up not hitting Florida, so I don't know how good these hoods are. As an extra precaution, I taped the final installation around the mouth of the mushroom vents. The canvas has an impregnated protection, so it is waterproof. On the other hand, knitted cord doesn't slip well and has a knot that makes slipping even more difficult.

Rubber strap is handy but useless - the first of the two vent covers ripped off overnight. I put on another cover, but this time I used duct tape to attach it to the vent tube and hold the elastic cord in place. This broke after 3 days. My neighbor returned it to me but it was torn and unusable. Back to my 30-gallon taped trash bag—I know it will last at least six months.
