Update: It's been about six months since I first had to change the 'pads' on each side of the file Time. It was very easy to do. Each piece just peeled off and they were easy to stick back on. I have three sets of replacement pads in addition to the new ones I just applied. If each one holds up as well as the first set, that nail file/buffer will last another two years or more. I've been using it for 9 days. My nails are faintly thin and just won't grow. So far I'm happy I can use any file out of 4 and end up buffing the nail perfectly. I've spent so much money on files, some more disassembled, some destroyed. I find this works best for my nails, they are very short and I have just started taking pills (natural herbs) and cream hoping they will grow back. If so, it's because this file helps. I bought it thinking I was going to get a file that sent me multiple refills.

Every page of this buffer is terrible. The rough side is so, so rough it makes your nails look scratched and awful. Even with the subsequent polished and smooth sides, my nails don't smooth out at all, they are covered in fully visible scratches and look even worse than before. The buff side does absolutely nothing whether used alone or after the rough side. The smooth side is the only side that actually works or does something but doesn't do much. And the shiny side doesn't add any real shine…

I have thick ribbed nails (oh they say it's due to age) and this caught my eye. With minimal time and effort, I got the effect of glass on my nails (even the next day). I was hesitant to spend more than $2 on a product that polishes my nails, but now I'm willing to spend $9. Do yourself a favor, ditch all those ridiculous buffers you own and just buy this.

First off, this is an excellent filter/buffer system in terms of texture and its four useful sides. However, if you plan on using it as a buffer after applying nail polish or using a nail powder system, I don't recommend it. I used this to buff my nail after using nail powder and the color of the file rubbed off my nail polish. So now my nail is light pink. I think it's a great buffer if you use it before applying polish.

The only criticism of this buff is that it is a bit difficult to buff around the cuticle. Since the pads are detachable, they leave a small gap that doesn't make it really easy to approach this area. However, if you have time or do not need to polish the entire area, this is not a serious disadvantage. Regardless, this is a steal in terms of value and quality.
