Adds a lot of performance to the current Apple Macbook, which only offers USB-C ports. While Apple is right - USB-C is likely to become the port of choice soon - many of us (yes, like me!) are still using standard USB devices that are too young to throw away. It takes care of that. It's a shame that when you buy a new iMac 24" you don't point out that none of the USB-C ports (smaller) in the back will fit Your old USB sockets. So you need to buy this handy new adapter. The adapter works great and allows you to adapt to a smart, ever-changing market.

I like this because it fixed my last adapter's problems. It was cheap. It was shipped super fast. It works! I also like that it's color matched to my phone and computer. It's also a nice smaller size. I just plugged it in and it worked right away. Now my monitor and third party mouse work with my MacBook. It can get a little warm but as it was so cheap it's worth it if it doesn't last long but I've had it for a few months now and so far there hasn't been any sign of failure.

I have to say the HDMI connection has never been a problem for me so if that's all you need then this is a great buy. However, USB connections suck. You'll find yourself constantly disconnecting and reconnecting your USB connections to avoid lag or even get it to work at all. Guaranteed mouse lag and frequent keystrokes just don't register. I've been frustrated for too long not to write a review. For reference, I have a 2019 Macbook Pro.

Trying new M1 Mac Mini - doesn't seem to like storage devices. The Seagate external (powered, brand new) USB hard drive shows up when I plug the drive "live" into the hub, but it's gone after a reboot, as is the HDMI out. Disconnecting the hard drive brings USB back, and the hard drive reappears when I reconnect it to the hub. The drive works on other USB hubs and direct. The hub appears to be powering other devices (scanners, card readers) normally .I also didn't like the external DVD recorder
