I've been a fan of Ubiquity products for a year. This device makes an excellent OpenBSD router. My only complaint is that unlike the Edgerouter Lite, this device doesn't have an easily removable EdgeOS memory module, so it takes more effort to flash OpenBSD. (I know I've probably voided my warranty and take that responsibility.) This is an amazing little box and I would buy it again.

6p (so far) 5 stars on performance but current firmware health is over 1/2 so I've averaged my score to 3. Firmware, especially GUI, in version 1.10.3 leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, there is a GUI with wizards, but you will soon find that many configuration options require a command line interface and the command line interface is the only way to get accurate operational and configuration information. As advertised. I installed OpenBSD on it and made it my new home firewall. It's done a great job so far (and as a result of this setup, Visa has configured the OpenBSD octeon to support SMP out of the box on this hardware)!

Not sure about old reviews and UI/software issues. Worked great right out of the box with a great full featured browser interface and lots of usage data. Set it up directly from the browser interface without using the Ubiquiti controller software. As another reviewer pointed out, use the setup wizard and tweak it when you're done. PoE 2 and 4 pairs, all 5 ports can be software enabled as a switch, dual WAN with traffic balancing and failover and fanless. What else can you expect for this price?

I bought my EdgeRouter 6P as an upgrade from the EdgeRouter POE so I could have two working routers and meanwhile didn't had to be offline a firmware update. I have previously tried the EdgeRouter X for this purpose and found it useless as the ER-X has very little memory. Just enable logging and ER-X will fill up the drive and stop working after two weeks. ER-6P is a whole different story. I rarely write reviews but I had to write one for this POS. It looks great at first glance, chic design, passive cooling, six Gigabit Ethernet ports and one SFP. Then comes the problem, the first thing all reviews tell you is to use the wizard to set it up. Magic my ass!
