🔖 Uchida Clever Lever Xtra Giga Craft Punch for Merchandise Tag - 3.125" x 2.125 Review

I bought this to recycle postcards into gift tags. I use it upside down so I can see exactly how the label will look. I've probably punched over 100 tags and it's still working fine. I recently cut out a piece of parchment and it was still able to cut it, so I haven't encountered any dull blade issues yet. The only downside is that the hole punch itself is very large for storage (about 7"L x 4"W x 3.5"h), but in terms of tag size and ease of use, this is a small complaint.

I'm giving 3 stars because it can perforate 80# card fairly easily. However, I can't get a clean cut. The right and left edges are usually a bit crisp, but the top and bottom edges will need trimming with scissors after the die-cut (the die-cutter leaves scraps of paper on the edges and slightly trims the bottom-right corner of the label). I'm not very happy with the product but then again I had to make these wedding labels and they did the job (messy).

I was initially very happy with this XL hole punch. He made big, beautiful markers, just the way I wanted them, at a price I could afford. However, after less than 100 hits, it started to stick and slip. I read somewhere that I tried punching through wax paper and it made it worse. I tried waxing the raw edges but that didn't work. After thoroughly cleaning all the wax with a soft cloth (which was quite a hassle) it will at least break through now, but will still stick EVERY TIME. I've tried to
