Easily upgrade from DVI-only monitors to HDMI devices.

I needed an adapter to connect an active mini DP to HDMI cable from a laptop to a DVI only monitor. The standard HDMI adapter plug was too long to fit behind the monitor, but this short cable was just what I needed. I connected the cable to the monitor's DVI port, then connected the HDMI port of the mini DP to HDMI cable to the adapter and the laptop recognized the monitor and automatically set the correct resolution without any intervention. Only it would be better if it was a little longerโ€ฆ

Doesn't work for my application.

Not working for my application. I wanted to connect the FireStick to my old (but good) 36 inch HD CRT TV. The TV has a DVI input but no HDMI. So I connected the FireStick to the HDMI converter's HDMI input and connected the converter's HDMI output to the TV's DVI input using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable (presumably bi-directional). All purchased from Revain. It should have worked, but didn't. [Theoretically there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is. Anon.]โ€ฆ

Do you want HDMI? Buy this adapter instead of a new monitor.

Here's my scenario: โ€ข I have a 25-inch HP HD HD monitor, but only DVI and VGA connectors (it's a few years old). โ€ข I have an XFX Black Edition Double D R9. 280 HDMI 2XDVI so I can run HDMI, but again, there is no HDMI port on the monitor โ€ข I have a Raspberry Pi with both HDMI and composite video ports, but none on my monitor โ€ข Archaic as that sounds, me Don't (or don't) have a TV with an HDMI port (although I have it now) so I'd have to use composite video so I wanted to stick with one monitor.
