I bought this to power an external hard drive from a charger but found that the charger puts out 0.5 amps and external hard drives require 0.9 amps . . Disappointed, but not the cable's fault.

I was very happy to have found this splitter because I needed a splitter with a long Y section to connect to two non-adjacent USB ports to get. Most of these Y-cables assume your ports are next to each other and don't give you very much cable on the second connector. This actually allows me to plug in a second USB 2 port and get enough power to run a USB 3 hard drive.

I bought a similar USB-Y version but it didn't fully fit my Wii U console. I don't have to worry about that like I did with the other one, which means some of the data will come out on the Wii U. It does not bother me. Enjoy your Wii U backups on an external hard drive without changing drives or running out of space (Wii U supports up to 2TB of external storage).

Exactly what I needed to expand the space for my DVD player. I just bought a new external optical drive for my computer and the cable that came with it was only 11 inches long which made it cumbersome. See specification image for more information. The product works as it should. I use it with my 2TB portable hard drive that I have connected to my modem/router combo. Powered for proper operation as the modem/router cannot power it on its own. Now I can access my hard drive over the network with my TV, iPad, iPhone, etc. Just one step closer to the iPad! The cord was longer, but that's a minor complaint as the main part is quite long.

Excellent cable. I bought this because the cable that came with my new Asus MB168B USB monitor was awful! The slightest movement of the monitor kept turning it off. This cable fits snugly and securely, detaches easily and has saved me from throwing my new monitor against the wall in frustration. Why the manufacturer of this item couldn't provide a good, correct cable like this is beyond me. Highly recommended!
