Works great but a screw hole is in a different position than my MacBook Pro A1286

Works great but a screw hole is in a slightly different position than the original drive in my latest 2008 MacBook Pro release (A1286). This means it is held down by one less screw and will rattle when not glued. This is the only thing stopping it from getting 5 stars.

Permanently defective. Buy the next generation.

I took a chance knowing other equipment would fail and get lost. The drive sounded like the spindle shaft was bent, causing the platter to spin, scratching the drive case with each rotation. He read the disc from time to time, but it seemed like the whole laptop was falling apart. In the end I returned it. The previous generation MacBook model looks much more reliable and is 100% compatible.

Product is unusable

Terrible stuff. I spent 6 hours installing it and found it didn't fit properly. A corner screw came loose from the base. The block itself didn't work. I took the DVD and couldn't read it. Then the DVD could not be ejected. I removed it and sent it back. A complete waste of time.

Honest seller with a great disc replacement

This disc was very easy to install. Just watch Youtube how to remove the back cover of a MacBook (which is very easy) and then replace the old one with the new one and you're done! My suggestion is that when you remove the screws from the back of your MacBook, place them on the table in the same pattern as the laptop so you know exactly which hole to put them back in. And be sure to buy a grounding strap (they're inexpensive) to use every time you touch the inside of the laptop.

Excellent replacement

I've had a 2010 Macbook Pro with a non-working CD/DVD drive for over 5 years. I recently plucked up the courage to replace the drive with my own hands after watching a video on Youtube. Result, perfection, it works, saved a lot of money, Apple didn't make it for a fortune. Excellent quality replacement product.
