Classic silks thermals long underwear for winter

I bought two sets of long underwear for the season, these in oatmeal heather size medium, both top and bottom, and theCuddl Duds Women's Thermal Long Sleeve Top & bottoms. This is a pretty classic set of long Johns. Like them a lot. I wear them under waterproof Patagonia pants out rowing on Gloucester Harbor. I am warm, cozy, and dry in them. I've already washed and dried them and they didn't seam to shrink.Folks' reviews complain of their being too thin and running. I am not experiencing that…

  • May not be durable enough for heavy use

Love the product/disappointed with service

I ordered seven pair at the end of December and received only six pair at the beginning of January. I quickly emailed the company about the error and waited. The reply said they would get back to me in 2-3 days. Then a second email said there was a glitch in their system and they had resolved the issue. It is January 23rd and I still do not have the 7th pair I paid for. I guess in the light of the world problems this can seem petty. I just want to get what I paid for. I love the product and its

Offers a slight layer of protection against the cold

4 stars as they really are quite thin, and not as soft others I've owned previously. I bought them for the snow, which they're OK for if not planning to stay out for an extended period. They're like a pair of looser fitting semi-opaque or semi-sheer pair of tights. Has a dry, slightly crisp hand with tiny pointelle dots in the weave. Be nice if the vendor offered this company's slightly thicker, softer weave that's more like an opaque tight in weight, without the pointelle dots, and with softer…

No real complaints here.

I was up in at Mount Shasta for a mushroom festival. The highest temperatures were 85 degreesF and the lowest temperatures were 38 degreesF. The elevation of where I camped out was about 6000 feet above sea level. I bought a size 1 size larger that I normally am.THE GOOD: This is so lightweight. I barely felt it while I was hiking. It wicked moisture from my body so I never got too hot while hiking. I wore this for 7 days straight and it did not smell bad or make me feel dirty. I can wear some…

Pros
  • Excellently thin - looking forward to wearing this in cold weather to keep me warm. Thanks!❤️
Cons
  • May not fit true to size

Great Base Layer good for me

This is a wonderful base layer material that stands up to farm life and allows movement without leaving me feel "wet". For washing, I throw it in a large lingerie bag so I remember to hang it to dry - which doesn't take long, even in damp cold weather. This is my second set. My first set was purchased 3 years ago and still worked fine up until recently when the seams started to give in the seat. (Husbands set had the same problem.) Don't let the silk fool you - it's really sturdy! I do…

Pros
  • Smooth texture won't irritate sensitive skin
Cons
  • May not offer enough coverage in the back or stomach area

Thinner than expected but helpful for cold weather

I have always moved in a warm climate and recently moved to the Northeast U.S. Experiencing a cool Fall is very new to me. These have been a real life saver for chilly days. The silk legging is a great lightweight layer and very breathable. They fit easily under all of my jeans and pants and are even easy enough to wear under thicker, opaque leggings. They do provide some added warmth, but personally, I think they are not going to be thick enough for really cold days during winter. I appreciate

Pros
  • Perfect for layering in cold weather
Cons
  • May not provide enough warmth for extremely cold weather

Buy them larger than the size chart indicates

I’ve worn silk long underwear for a long time, and have gone through a couple pair over the years. This is a well known brand, but I’ve found that the ones with the little pointelle/chevron pattern in the fabric don’t have as much stretch and that leads to a shorter life span. These things are THIN! You want to order them large enough so they are not pulling when you bend your knees or they will split and run like stockings.I weigh 128 pounds and bought the medium, and even though they looked…

Pros
  • Great base layer for year-round wear
Cons
  • May not provide enough insulation for colder climates

I highly recommend merino wool instead

Fit a little big for xs, but I likely need and xxs as I am extremely petite. I was looking for very thin long johns for everyday office worlk wear that I could use under leggings without being bulky. They are a little bulky because they are too big for me, but for a regular sized person, this should not be a problem. The fabric was quite thin, which is what I was looking for. I hope they will be durable. If you want warmer and thicker, I highly recommend merino wool instead. I would say that…

Pros
  • Flattering fit enhances feminine curves
Cons
  • May not stay in place during movement

works great under clothes, very warming!

For as thin as the material is, it does help keep you warm. Limited color options. I don't know how long they will last but fir now they are great.

Pros
  • they do not stretch enough
Cons
  • Limited color options

Great purchase- so happy I bought!

Purchased these because I needed something to wear between my very sensitive leg due to scar tissue/scarring after surgeries and a leg brace without adding bulk. I have worn under skirts, dresses and capris. This material is very soft and does not add heat. I bought the light grey and ivory. I hand wash/rinse out and let air dry. Definitely worth the price.

Pros
  • Used them under my dresses for a little warmth. Bought two pair white and black
Cons
  • May shrink after washing

Warm and lightweight but expected them to last longer

I purchased these in November of 2019 and wore them heavily through the colder months. They're warm and lightweight, but tear easily due to the nature of the silk. I'm a little disappointed that they deteriorated so quickly, and I'm not sure I would buy them again at this price.

Pros
  • Moisture-wicking properties keep you dry all day long
Cons
  • May snag or tear easily on rough surfaces

Keeps me warm, super lightweight, waistband a little tight

Cuts a little tight on the waist band but is tolerable and otherwise fits well. Keeps me really warm and takes up barely any room at all in my drawers or suitcase. Highly recommend over traditional thermals.

Pros
  • Provides a barrier between skin and harsh outerwear
Cons
  • May not provide enough protection against the wind

Thin but warm - my new review

Purchased these as base layer for a trip to Northern India and the Himalayas. Worn them for a bit around the house and they are warm! The material is thin and they likely should be hand washed and line dried. However, they appear to be the same weight as others purchased from Land's End, which have lasted a good long time. Thin is good, as they weigh next to nothing and take up little room, perfect for a long trip with carry on luggage only.

Pros
  • Doesn't bunch up or ride up during wear
Cons
  • May not be suitable for women with wider hips

Very sheer, but easy to tear

These silk underwear are very thin. They help in the winter and fit easily under your pants. But they tear easily (like pantyhose) so if you need them for camping or hiking or if you might wear them overnight, be very careful.

Pros
  • Easy care - machine washable and dryer friendly
Cons
  • Limited sizing options

I received small/petite . I am tall ?

I appreciate Terramar therma products and that's all I buy during these cold months. I normally wear their Small in both top and bottom, however I received a S/P which is just too short and too tight around the waist. I never even saw that as a size option. I'm wearing them down by my hips which is not comfortable. I weigh 118 pounds and am am 5' 5 1/2 so small is fine. But I am not petite. Wish I could exchange them, but i live in Mexico and the cost of shipment doesn't make it worth it. I had

Pros
  • Lightweight fabric for easy movement
Cons
  • Some customers have reported pilling after several wears

Svelt, soft, warm, and so, so, comfy!

I just wore this pants and top as an under-layer on a 54 degree day outside under my running outfit. First, it is sooo soft! It reminds me of my favorite dance tights, but made of silk, and an ever-so-slightly flowing fit. The waist elastic is narrow, but very stretchy. The waist felt tight at first, but once on, I forgot I was wearing the extra layer. It did not bulk up under running pants, and did not ride down at all. This is going to be my go-to for winter layering. As soon as I can save up

Pros
  • Thermoregulating technology keeps you warm without overheating
Cons
  • May not provide enough compression or support

I have multiple pairs. They are warm but not the least bit bulky. We had moths eat some wool and I think they got into my old silk thermalware. I now store them in a sealed bag. They wash well in machine or by hand. They dry in a flash!I bought large when I usually wear mediums. I just like extra room in the knees. They are short enough I can wear the larges easily. I have been wearing this brand for many years.

Pros
  • Available in a range of colors to suit your style
Cons
  • May not be suitable for extended outdoor activities

Great as an undergarment.

I love these! I don't like the expense of purchasing opaque tights that aren't silk. These are great for under garments for my medieval re-enactment events in the winter. Silk has wondrous properties. In fact.I purchased these to wear under my roman temple priestess costume in a wedding I am performing next weekend. Temperatures have dipped recently into serious brrrr factor. Looking forward to wearing my fine roman attire.NOTE:I wore the tights under the costume and I loved them. Some may be…

Pros
  • Smooth waistband won't dig into skin
Cons
  • May cause irritation or itching for some users

Nutshell: wonderfully warm base layer for 40-45 F temps

For size reference, I’m 5’3”, generally wear Small / size 2 or 4 depending on brand, style, etc. Bought a S in this and it fit fine. Definitely not ultra snug, rather pretty loose. At first I was really disappointed, thinking that as a base layer it was supposed to be like 2nd skin, and considered returning it but didn’t have time before leaving for a trip in a couple days. In the end, I’m happy about the fit. I think an XS would’ve felt too constrictive and the waistband definitely too…

Pros
  • Made with eco-friendly materials
Cons
  • May not be long-lasting enough for frequent use

Surprised by the sizing

I had purchased the Terramar silk pointelle long sleeved tops in the past to wear under sweaters but never tried the pants liners. I normally wear a size Small but they are a bit too big through the waist and hips and too long for my legs. I do also wear a size Small in the tops, which seem true to size. So I was kind of surprised when the pants liners seemed kind of big (normally wear a size 6P slacks). Still, I love the warm and lightweight quality to this apparel.

Pros
  • Won't pill or stretch out of shape
Cons
  • May feel too thin for some users
