Great steel! for kitchen and dining room

This polished steel is great! I am a butcher for a large grocery chain and use it daily. Since I usually keep my knives sharp, the blade stays nice and sharp. My co-workers bought polished F-thick steel at twice the price and mine works just as well as theirs.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Very expensive

Great Steel!: Knife Sharpener

Exceeded my expectations. I was a butcher's apprentice in high school so I know how to sharpen knives and keep them sharp, this is great steel for keeping a knife blade sharp. This is a very thin steel, the so-called finishing steel, so that the sharp cutting edge remains sharp. First you have to hammer the blade with stone and then use this steel to pocket it.

Pros
  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

Surprisingly effective for a beginner

I was curious to see how smooth steel would work. I've tried it on some of my near-sharp knives. You easily passed the paper cutting test and are now able to make clean cuts with ease. Knives have proven their worth when it comes to food. At first it seemed like a miracle cure. It's still my tool to mend my knives.

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Not for everyone

Works great for what we have

Works great for what we have. Remember this is smooth honing steel. It was designed to keep an already sharp blade in working condition. No metal is removed from the edge. If you buy it for home use, just smack it a few times with your knife after use and it will extend the time between sharpening sessions, thereby prolonging the life of your knives. It's worth it if you enjoy getting what you have.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

I was skeptical but this is amazing.

Bearded butchers have learned about polished steel from commercials. I was a bit skeptical but for the price I thought I'd give it a try. I've used rougher steels in the past but they didn't seem to improve sharpness after using my Trizor XV sharpener. It really works! It doesn't remove any material, just smooth the edge. As with polishing metal, the material is not removed but moved.

  • The best

just a few minutes and pocket knives cut like new.

I bought both the rough and smooth blades because when you have knives that need a new edge you need both. I have tried diamond tip sharpeners on my Buck pocket knives but they don't seem to get the knife as sharp as I would like. My knives are a kitchen tool, a letter opener, a utility knife, each gets good use and nothing has made them really nice and sharp except that rough/smooth combination.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Only available in black

This rating is about the plain or smooth honing rod.

If you can handle it, you'll be amazed at how strong this sharpening steel is. I bought both the course and the smooth honing rod. The movement is for sharpening, and the smooth for setting a sharp edge. The handle is chunky but not very big. so you have a good grip. I was able to restore the sharpness of my knife from CUTting COMpnay and can now cut meat, vegetables and tomatoes again. This is good value for money.

Has kept the blades sharp

In November I bought a grinder, butcher knife and boning knife to process a half pork carcass. The sharpening steel sharpened my blades well when cutting. It's important to be mindful of the angle you're sharpening at - there are plenty of guides online for this - otherwise you could be doing more harm than good. Like I said, it was quick. Sharpening steels are not knife sharpeners. So if your blade becomes dull, don't expect it to make it brand new. However, I've noticed improvements in all of

Professional quality for a third of the normal price!

So, I'm a professional butcher, I spend a lot of money on Forshners and such, I've seen these, I've seen the price, I've decided to try a few. I bought 9 knives and two of these steels. I love her! For a long time I wanted steel without grooves for sharp edges, thin flexible knives. That's cool! That's why I bought two! These are well made pieces of cutlery. Knives are made of carbon steel. This means you can easily sharpen and sharpen these blades when needed. If you constantly need a sharp…
