New, anything but durable.

So we're already on the third cup, because it's easy to forget that you can't wash it in the dishwasher. A run in the washing machine destroys the outer layer, which is a heat-sensitive sticker on a plain black mug. Heat sensitive to display and of course destroy the constellations. When we got the third the sticker around the edge had come off with nothing just new out of the box. That being said, the mug needs a certain temperature to reveal the Zodiacs as advertised. Too much (boiling 210F)…

Fun for coffee mugs

I really like my mug. After reading the reviews I was confused as to how it would hold up. Here's the scoop...it's not meant to be washed in the dishwasher or hand cleaned on the outside. When unpacking, there are 2 thin PE films on the outside. The first has a sticker asking to be removed. This protects it from scratches during transport. The second is a thin, semi-permanent pad that reacts to heat. It can be easily scratched or scraped off, rendering the effect unusable. The bottom line is…

Dishwasher safe

The mug changes color because it has a color changing sticker. The sticker is not waterproof. The mug cannot be washed in the dishwasher. Even with normal hand washing, if the mug is not immersed in water for a long time, the edges will start to become rough. It takes a while for a cup to heat up and change, and when it changes, it does so quickly. Basically you end up watching the paint dry and when it finally dries there's a "blink and you miss" situation. The mug does change color as…

I just LOVE this mug! I love looking at the stars on a clear night and when I saw this mug I decided to buy it. It arrived quickly and undamaged. When I first used it I didn't realize there was a protective film to remove so I figured it was ruined. It was my fault. Just remember to remove the foil before use. DO NOT MACHINE WASH

I bought this in November (it's April now) so I've been using it everyday for almost 6 months and I hand wash it every day and put it in the microwave every day and y I had no problems with the constellation cover (or decal as some call it). EXCEPT if the mug says "DO NOT MACHINE WASH" in big, bold letters at the bottom, do not put it in the dishwasher, even if you're absentmindedly loading dishes. WE DON'T HAVE A DISHWASHER - Arrived chipped and peeled after second use

The mug, which was a gift in our own home, arrived quickly and was well packaged. Presented as a gift it turned out to be of decent quality with a small chip at the bottom of the mug.
