Will not program frequencies above 512MHz

Pretty decent little scanner. Lightweight and fairly compact. Not bad if you just follow the local communities (on analogue channels) at home or in the car. What is not mentioned in the description is that this scanner CANNOT access/program high frequencies above 512MHz. Some places I live use 800MHz frequencies and I can't program them into this scanner. If I had known that before buying, I would not have bought it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price

Disappointed with Uniden

I have always found Uniden to be a quality product. The SR30C was a new product and seemed to have good reviews, apart from the complex programming, but that wasn't a problem for me. The build quality was excellent, as was the sound quality. A big problem was the battery life. I put in a fresh set of alkaline batteries and they ran for about 12 hours when I got the low battery warning. Replaced them with a fully charged set of NiMH batteries which ran for about 3 hours until they also gave a…

Unfriendly to use - radio scanner

I had an old Radio Shack that I used for years but my grandson loves airplanes so I decided to give it to him and replace it. There aren't many options, but I've heard of Uniden, so I've decided this is the way to go. It wasn't easy to store frequencies in my old Radshack device. I had to look at the manual every time. But at least I could understand the user manual and only had to switch it on after setting it up. The Uniden division is still a nightmare. I didn't take it out to see if I…

why did i do it good for security and surveillance

My colleague told me not to buy an analog scanner as they no longer work for Richmond/Chesterfield Co in Virginia. Emergency and police were encrypted, not digital. I was given such wrong information that oh yes it should work. BS Uniden sent me information after I had already ordered it that it would not work after 2 comments stated that it should also work when receiving sea and air transmissions. All I heard was a clear signal for the local weather forecast. I picked up a 20-30 second faint…
