When I first bought this gate/pen my lab dog was 8 weeks old and at that age he could still move it when jumping. I've only ever used it in the octagon shape. It's so heavy that I couldn't move it LIGHTLY to use as a gate. If I did, I'd have to lug it around, and the weight makes it too much of a fiasco to switch between the two. I liked the concept of this product. I spent hours researching and comparing many goals and arenas before making a purchasing decision. The wood is too heavy for hinges and screws. all parts fell out and scattered. I've tried using anchors and re-drilling them but that only caused the hinges to bend and eventually break. The hardware is a bit flimsy and cheap, the holes in mine weren't drilled and I had to drill them to get the hardware screws in.
