Great fun, useful for cycling

I've tested both the Carve and the Flow and for me the Flow does the job well. If you're doing really hardcore stuff and falling all the time, a hard shell protector is the more resilient route. Rest assured that with just one flushable slide, the IXS won't last long, especially if you keep falling. As much as I love these flows to ride my regular trails, on shuttle days I still take my hard kicks the length of my calf. Rowing.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some minor things

Works a little small

I bought a big one that was too small. I'm 5'8" with medium calves and big thighs, not overly muscular or fat, just in between. Came back and got the XL and it's still a bit small but I'm keeping it anyway. It rubs a little on the top Part of the shin below the knee It is not articulated the pad is firm I guess I was expecting more size and adjustability to cover any sizing issues but no the construction is good the padding is good seems a good lighter To be protection for the knee Be sure to…

Comfort and protection

First ride on them was a double Black Diamond trail 3.5 miles uphill on a sunny day with temperatures in the 80s+. Ideal reasons to test their comfort. Result: They remained comfortable enough to be worn most of the time (I wore them around my ankles to try and dry them). Didn't have an accident as expected, but I'm sure if I had had one they would have provided adequate protection. At first I didn't want to spend almost $100 on knee pads, but the hospital bill would be many times that. This…
