🔧 Universal Fan Clutch Water Pump Pulley Holding Tool by Drake Off Road Tools Review

Used on my 2007 Tundra. Doubtful purchase for the price. However, it is perfect. That made the job easier. I do not regret this purchase. Perfectly holds the water pump when unscrewing the fan nuts.

Until recently, my Lisle fan clutch kit has never let me down. Then I encountered a really stuck fan clutch on the 7.3. It was a homemade project that went wrong. This holding tool with a Lisle set was the only combo that ended up working.

If you work on cars more than occasionally, you need one of these. Of the various tools used to hold the water pump pulley while unbolting the clutch fan, this is one of the best. Some "complete" kits lack this type of strike plate. Big mistake. Get one of them.

The title says it all, this tool is very durable and well made. That's long enough to provide plenty of leverage (which also reduces hood tilt). The handle is wide enough to have a good grip, the jaws rest securely and lightly on the pulley bolts. And finally, the tool is very durable. It is capable of withstanding far more torque than a human can apply and certainly more than is required for a traditional fan clutch nut. This is an ideal (if only for one purpose) tool.

Did exactly what it was designed to do. Used it on an 07 f150 to hold the water pump while the fan clutch was removed. This tool hooks onto the studs protruding from the water pump and holds them in place. Worked very well for this purpose. My only criticism of this tool is that it's quite expensive for what it really is. I expect a tool like this to be $15-20, not the $50 I bought it for.
