Broken invoices: analyzers

The first hydrometer arrived with a broken cover and the second, which I had to order as a replacement, arrived with a broken case. My free time has to be paid for. I was excited about this hydrometer because of the SG range it offers, but I think I'll have to look elsewhere.

Reliable areometer, practical protective cover.

Bought and a graduated cylinder for testing liquid ceramic glazes. I haven't tested it for icing yet, but I've tested the calibration in water (accurate) and I'm very happy with its readability and ease of use. It comes in a sturdy plastic storage tube with foam on both ends to enclose the hydrometer, so I'm glad it's fairly portable too. I'll update if I have trouble using it as intended, but 5 stars for now.

Pros
  • Inspect, measure and test
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Nice size/feel but quite inaccurate

It would be a very good buy if easily calibrated. He is healthy and long. Arrived well packaged in a suitcase. The first thing I did was measure out the distilled water. My hydrometer reads 0.92. I've tried bottling, distillation, 60F, 4C and more. These differences affected 0.915 or 0.922, for example. I understand that it is not uncommon to have to use registration and offset to correct measurements, but this error is well outside of any acceptable tolerance. It can become a good fishing…
