5-Inch Universal Hook and Loop Orbital Sander Pad for Popular Brands – Ryobi, Milwaukee, Craftsman ROS Review

Until recently, my old Harbor-Frt discount grinder has served me well for many years. This record was a good decision to make it like new again. Fast, easy repair and perfect fit. Arrived the next day, the new paper is holding up well and I quickly got back to projects.

Well I decided to try this to fix my original orbital sander. The velcro on this thing worked great but the backing frayed on my first project which was a pair of corn hole boards. Unfortunately I had to buy another one to fix my grinder.

The disc was good, it lasted and fitted my Dewalt grinder perfectly, but not for as long as I expected. I do woodwork off and on and with minimal light in less than a year the sandpaper isn't sticking to the hooks anymore. Looks like the hooks are worn out.

These pads worked great! The original rubber pad crumbled over time. Ordered new plus grinding wheels and installed both without any problems and very quickly. Luckily I had the model number and it matched the seller's description.

Fits my Craftsman 11621 perfectly. There are small nicks between the grinder screw holes which I find difficult to drill so the new pad was flush when installed. Now the perfect orbital sander with Velcro. Very happy with this item and the velcro strap holds the sanding pads very well.

Does not fit specified Ryobi RS240. These are 4 screw holes that line up "decently" but there are also 4 raised ridges on the sander that the real sanding pad has indentations for. This is not! So I return it and go through this long process, or I just file off the little ridges and hope it fits in the arbor, otherwise I just messed up my grinder! If you have a Ryobi RS240, there are just a few things you should think about before buying one of these pads.

The original foam sponge has deteriorated and broken. This replacement pad states that it is compatible with Sear's. 5" grinder and you can measure the distance between the screws to make sure it matches the one you have. Installation is very easy, just remove the 4 Phillips screws and remove the old pad, then put that in new pad and reinstall the 4 screws, the replacement pad fits perfectly and the dust holes lined up perfectly.

I have a Skill random orbit sander. I have given it to loan to some landscapers who obviously have no idea how to use an orbital sander. They did a job with that and ruined the edges of the pad because they just sanded the work piece with the edge of the sanding pad instead of keeping the sander straight as intended. This baseplate/backup pad is an exact replica of the OEM baseplate/backup pad on my vintage RO100 orbital sander. This isn't the part number that B&D lists for this grinder, but I took a gamble that it should be close. Well, that's clearly a suitable replacement part.
