Chain guard will not fit chain

The item received will not fit, leaving room for the chain. Proper equipment was not provided for this product to work with the sprocket and chain attachment.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not all will fit

If I could give these negative stars I would.

Mounting holes aligned but I had to cut them around the crank. After filing, the screws and spacers did not allow for secure attachment. Waste of money and time!

  • Hands Free

It complements my bike.

I bought a chain guard 32 - 34 red. It is used with an IFX connecting rod and a 30 tooth sprocket. They work well together. The color is close to the rest. I am very happy with it. My Mongoose XR-pro looks great.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Hard to say

Chain guard is very good but no screws included.

Please note that this is a chain guard that is mounted in addition to the existing sprocket. At the same time, the bolts are too small for a guard. I had to purchase longer sprocket bolts separately to use them, which caused some delay in my setup.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • boring packaging

As advertised - chain guard

Product arrived as advertised. To attach the chainguard to the crank, I folded the chainring onto the inside of the crank arm and the chainguard onto the outside of the crank. This way I was able to get enough chain slack to run without shims. This is pictured. My only complaint is that the chainguard isn't red enough for my liking, I could have repainted it to match the orange-red accent color of the bike.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works creatively.

This chain guard is completely flat. Mounted on the crank, the screw holes were countersunk and direct drilling through was not possible due to the small area of the casing. I had to level it so that most of the surface lined up with each screw hole, mark a hole on the guard and pry it out with a dremel. Stainless steel washers/nuts and pan head screws were used for attachment. When everything is tightened it stays on and looks good. A cutting tool is used to cut the bolt on the nut.

Be careful if your sprocket has an adjustment pin.

If your TruVativ sprocket has an adjustment pin. You will need a machine with its own notch on the ring or the bolt holes will not match the 104 BCD sprocket. It's also made of very soft aluminum and bends very easily, so be careful. I had to order a set of spacers for the bolt kit that came with the kit so as not to interfere with the derailleur. I don't expect it to last too long and I'll probably have to order it in stronger, thicker aluminum after something hits it. I'll see how it holds…

Pros
  • Decent performance
