There is no way to control the performance of these devices. I saw someone say they use a voltage regulator and might have some control. Sorry, but that doesn't work. It's either on full power or off. I have a sandless saltwater aquarium and it blows everything away like a hurricane. If I had sand in the tank, it would carry the sand everywhere. I had to spend my money on a jeboa wave generator. I think I'll use it to mix salt water.

I bought this for my gallon saltwater tank and it's VERY POWERFUL! Everything flew out of my tank to the other side lol. This should be used in a 200+ gallon tank! Great product but it was the jet engine in my tank! Very quiet and pleasant product; just too much power for my tank! I ended up going back and buying 2 individual 530 heads and enough for my 65. I also like that they are separate too. This one is dual and has no power control to turn it on or off. I hope this helps someone. :-)

Good for the price. It's a speed as others have said. This works in my tank as I have an external sump that returns through 4 returns that the flow rotates through to change the water flow. I needed the extra flow rate to create flow at the bottom of my 3ft tank. Since this pump is almost at the top, I have no problem mixing the sand below, but it does hold dirt in the water column until it goes into the overflow system in my sump. Happy with the pump except for the suction cups. I wish it had…
