Not impressed with drawing media

Although I usually like metallic colors, I wasn't impressed with them. Pastels and I don't seem to get along very well, so I don't know if that's a problem or what. I made patterns on 80# black paper to see how they would look. The colors looked a bit dull and not metallic at all, in contrast to their metallic watercolor counterparts. In the box and in my hand, they looked like they were going to lay down in a creamy state, but they didn't. They lay down like other pastels I've tried and with a

Soft and buttery to paint on

I'm not familiar with the SoHo Urban Artist line of products, but was pleasantly surprised by the SoHo Urban Artist Soft Pastels Set. These are very soft chalk pastels with pressed mica powder. The proportion of mica powder and pigments is very high. I tried them on black cotton watercolor paper to see the effect of the metallic colors and they were very vibrant. Great idea put into practice Few things to know

This year I've enjoyed learning how to work with pastels. I've been an artist for most of my life, but pastel is a medium I'm still learning more fully. Let's take a look at these pastels. WHAT IS IT FOR? They come in a box with a protective cover on top. He protects the pastel. The pastels look handmade and wrapped with labels. SOFTNESS These pastels are very soft. They take a light hand and work best when you're not trying to do a lot of layers with them. DUST There is LOTS of dust on it. I…
