You get what you pay for.

As other reviewers have said, the hardware sucks, and to that I might add that the entire easel is very cheaply constructed. The wing nuts that are supposed to hold the drawing/artboard at the working angle are not strong enough to hold the angle. They are too small, sharp for the fingers and too small. I had to add lock washers and flat washers and they still don't hold the work surface at every angle. I also had to cut out a piece of board to keep the countertop from coming out at the back…

It was 15% cheaper than an easel than Michaels for the same product!

I was looking for something to paint on my desk. When I opened the box I thought everything was fine. When I opened the easel I thought everything was fine. But I was pleasantly surprised by the free gift inside. . Below that was a large plastic palette for paint. How nice! Then I started using it and storing my supplies in it. Fiction. An answer to prayers for an artist's pose!

I really *love* this portable easel! I love how it adjusts from easel height. to the angle of the easel surface. to configure the partitions inside the box. The box itself is a great feature as I can keep my reading glasses, clip-on portable flashlight and other essentials close at hand. who work on paper instead of canvas or with very small or oddly shaped canvases.
