USB C Mini Dock Adapter 40AU0065US Review

Wanted to install two monitors and some accessories (including a mouse and keyboard) on my new Lenovo laptop. After lots of research and reviews, I chose this mini dock because it came with an AC adapter and it could also power a laptop. It's small but powerful and I connected everything to it.

Since there are only HDMI and VGA as video connectors, your cables must each be one and this product has a design flaw where VGA and HDMI do not fit at the same time. And it's not that "my cables are different": the VGA connectors are pretty much the same, leaving 1mm for the plastic part of the HDMI connector. If there is such a cable that will do the job, which I doubt, you're going to have to spend more money on something that's a design flaw.

I ordered this item (40AU0065US) after making sure it was compatible with my device. But it didn't send any signal to the display via HDMI or VGA cable. It didn't work immediately, after that I successfully updated the driver. Still does not work. The USB connection for the mouse button works. The display does not work in any case. I'll be back. Any contact for Vantage Point Corp in the shipping box for assistance. On the item I see TYPE: 40AU but not the full number 40AU0065US. Was unnecessary

The device is excellent! I would like to be able to use two displays at the same time. But it's just one or the other, so I hooked up my HDMI to my laptop for dual screens. Also, the only downside is that the USB-C cable that connects the device to the laptop is quite short and it bends and strains the cable a bit, as you can see in the picture. Other than that, it's great. Just plug and play and you will never have a problem with it.

Remember that this device has only 45W to run a tablet or a laptop with peripheral support. The adapter requires 20 watts to operate. Both the AC adapter and the Mini-Doc adapter must be plugged in for the 65-watt tablet to function properly.

I bought this dock for my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 (Type 82HT) because the Lenovo website said that it is a fully compatible option. It is not. Everything works fine (power, ethernet, USB ports, audio etc.) EXCEPT it doesn't support HDMI/video to an external monitor (presumably because a non-business class Ideapad can't support video - via the Alt DP mode - via USB-C 3.2 port So, in addition to the mini USB-C port on the dock, I also need to connect any external monitor directly to the HDMI port…

I love how small this dock is. Like most USB-C docking stations, it delivers power from your laptop port and enough bandwidth for an external monitor with no noticeable lag. A dedicated Ethernet port, USB 2.1, USB 3, and VGA (or HDMI) are great for such a small docking station. The only thing I would wish for would be more USB ports.
