Vacu Vin Saver Vacuum Stoppers Kitchen & Dining Review

This is a replacement for one lost during a move. This is what a wine lover needs! Since I usually drink wine alone, it is very important to them to seal an open unfinished bottle. I recommend ONLY THIS brand. I've tried others and they didn't do the job as well as this brand.

They protect the wine from oxidation quite well, although during the week it is still better to drink. I like that they are very comfortable. It only takes a second to seal, so I do it as soon as I pour without wondering if it's the last glass of the night. They last for years - I've only had to replace the top parts that I've lost, none of which have gone bad.

They were purchased as extra caps for a Vacu Vin pump and cap set I bought a few years ago. But they just don't match the same brand of wine I've been buying for years while my old ones still match. They are grey, not black, and there is a difference in the number of o-rings and of course the outside diameter on these new ones. WTF. It's not worth my time and effort to come back, but it annoys me.

These things are the answer to the prayer of the wine lover who lives alone or whose loved-dosent loves wine or drinksdosent so much. This extends the life of your wine so you don't have to drink it all in one day. This keeps the great taste for several days. I haven't tried more than four, but that's the perfect amount for me. And it's better than trying to put a cumbersome, half-sized, half-stretched cork back into the bottle.

I've had a vacuum set for over a year now and it works great. The original plugs will hold a vacuum for several days (probably a week or more). These plugs won't keep the seal for more than a few hours. I've looked closely at them and compared them to the originals and honestly I don't see any difference, but they definitely don't work. In our experience they work well and we haven't noticed any loss of vacuum even when the bottle is left unattended for many days. We got two different sets of stoppers that just didn't work. Reckless attempt to ruin a great product! The old design of the VacuVin stopper was such that the large ribs on the rubber stem would stick to the neck of the bottle until you pulled them out, even without applying a vacuum. So if you're using it as a temporary seal after opening lots of white wine before a party, it'll be easier to put back in the fridge. It worked great.
