Four of the eleven hooks were uneven. I polished them with fine sandpaper (400, 600, 1000). It worked on three hooks. But one of the common worsted sizes (I practiced with some of the Red Heart materials I had on hand), 6mm, required some real sanding. I used 320 grit and thinner paper but after two tries I still couldn't get a smooth hook. I had to send them back. It's a pity, because I was enthusiastic about the cheap hook set. The collar area of the hooks is rough due to the workmanship and obviously they haven't bothered to polish the surface afterwards so these hooks get caught while crocheting and tear the yarn. Seriously, Valar Dohaeris?! What a rip off! I plan on getting a set of fine sandpaper and buffing paper and see if I can smooth these hooks out enough so they don't snag and pull on the yarn.
