🐱 Cat Pan by Van Ness Review

The internal dimensions of the tray are 2 inches shorter than what I later bought elsewhere for $2 less (17.5" x 13.5") compared to (19.5" x 16"). The height of the lip at the entrance is about the same. I now have the $10 Cat Tray themed storage case. See photo.

I bought this tray (x2) specifically for the 'high sides' because I have a kitten who doesn't crouch very well to pee. Well if you look at my photo my cat is defective and these boxes don't explain this defective cat. Now I'm going to find another litter box because as you can see my teenage cat also easily ejected the entire litter box by jumping out.

I have two cats and only one of them peed right on the edge of her litter box wall. I bought the cement mixing bins because they are bigger and I thought it would go closer to the center but no! So I recently bought one of these litter boxes because the walls are higher. I don't know which cat used the litter box but there was no urine outside! I *just* bought a second of these trays today. No more urine on the floor!

I must have imagined it to be big. It seems to work well for my two small cats, but my big cats have a bit of a problem because they don't quit smoking long enough. My largest cat is 15 inches from base of neck to base of tail. I would not recommend this for a cat of this size. It is good that the sides are good and high. My smaller male tends to urinate on the edge of the litter box and with shorter sides he sometimes throws it over the edge and onto the floor.

Just wondering why I didn't get this sooner. I bought this for my rabbit (yes bunnies use litter boxes / can be potty trained) and it does a great job with litter and hay. She's a dredge, so high sides work well. This is a medium sized rabbit, around 6 pounds, and has plenty of room to twirl. I had to remove the slamming door - rabbits don't like to feel trapped, and it doesn't swing very flexibly. But she likes it without a door and can go in and out freely. Easy to wash/wash. This tray was advertised as a high walled tray although it was difficult to pinpoint the exact dimensions from the description. This is my second purchase of this tray. The first is now 4 1/2 years old. old and still like new. It's a nice deep box and my 2 adult cats use it with no problem. The plastic seems to have a nice finish which makes the box easy to clean and I'm talking about a full cleaning once or twice a year to remove dust etc. It also helps prevent wet dirt from sticking to the bottom and sides on a daily basis, which was an issue I had with the previous trash drawer. Just a great tray. Mine came in royal blue. It's a bit higher on the side and back which helps. But the main reason I bought it was so I could get it in a Revain box. It's a secret! Store the tray in the Revain drawer and the sides are high enough to collect all that discarded junk! FYI, I had to put a box in the litter box I have and the box was too long.
