Velbon QB 4W Quick Release Platform Review

I ordered this because it was the platform listed for my old Velbon S 6000 tripod when I was looking for a replacement Revain. I ordered it with confidence when I found a review that said it would fit the S 6000. It arrived quickly but unfortunately the 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" base didn't fit my tripod. An internet search resulted in TWO different platforms listed for the Velbon S 6000 depending on the panhead used. The return was painless (all blessed, Revane). I purchased this item from Mel Pierce Camera (HIGHLY recommended!) for the Ambico V-0542 Tripod which I got cheap. The head felt great and some reviews said it fit her so I took a chance. This plate will NOT fit the V-0542 tripod head without some semi-heavy sanding on the SIDES of the plate. Ambico has straight sides running the length of the bag where this panel is angled.
