cheap and noisy and too easy to disassemble

I have one and keep losing the acorn nut that holds the wheel to the bell - you know how difficult it is to find a nut that fits Find !

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Repair

I thought I could get around the horrible build quality

I thought I could get around the horrible build quality but I couldn't. Carrying a bag of screws in a jar on a string behind the bike is better than buying this.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Secret

Cheaply made, doesn't work

I did not return this item just because it would be more trouble than it was worth. Maybe it was broken when it arrived. It was difficult to fit into my bike. Careful adjustment is required to align the bell with the rod. And after all that, he hardly ever called. Please tell me if you know how it works.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Minor issues

It's a good idea to take the bell apart and solder it on.

All the parts are there and yes they need to be tightened for this thing to be strong. It's also a good idea to disassemble the bell and solder the firing pin to the center axle to keep it in place. Very easy. The control lever could be a bit more ergonomic. It has fairly sharp edges and is difficult to accidentally operate while riding compared to a handlebar-mounted bell.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • I won't tell

You get what you pay for - cheaply made, not very noisy.

Out of the box first impression is consistent with what other reviewers have found - cheap junk. For the price I could deal with poor quality if it was at least loud. It's not at all like I had as a kid - the ones we had back then were much bigger and so loud that they ended up being banned by the city. It sounds like an annoying doorbell, which might be enough for some, but I wanted the thing to be LOUD! I'll take it apart and see if there's a way to improve it and I'll report back.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Mine worked great. . .before. . .

I bought one of these off eBay really thinking it was vintage (it had rust and looked old). I drive in heavy New York traffic. As a commuter, weight wasn't a big issue. The mounting bolts that come with the kit are undersized except for the really old Schwinn type flat forks. You will need longer metric fine thread screws twice the size of what they give you.2. You may lose some paint from the fork as you need to attach it tightly. I have chrome forks so I wasn't too worried.3. Yes, my unionโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Has imperfections
