You need to use large vertical values and adjust the strobe width, strobe phase and overdrive using the strobe utility provided by ViewSonic to get the magic out of this monitor. Motion performance is fine with nothing more than turning on PureXP, but at this point you might want to consider other options. Bought on sale this is a great product for its MHz and bright picture, but there is a strange issue that keeps it from getting a perfect score. The backlight strobe modes are amazing. I've been waiting for a monitor that can flash the backlight at 60Hz. Movement is crystal clear. I was concerned that grazing the 60Hz backlight would give me a headache, but with some bias lighting this wasn't an issue for me. I might also be one of the lucky few who don't have issues with lower backlight strobe rates.

They sent me a monitor with 2 non-working OSD buttons which rendered the monitor unusable as I cannot change any settings in the OSD. After contacting ViewSonic support, they told me that they couldn't fix my monitor since I live in Israel (even though they sent it here) and didn't give me any other solution.

The monitor itself is good, but the build quality of the stand and button is very cheap, and half the button didn't even work right out of the box.

I use my own strobing profile, which is roughly equivalent to the Extreme strobing preset, which is the darkest preset. In most of my daytime lighting conditions, I would turn it on that bright anyway. Gaming motion is great and image quality is much better than my Dell TN 1440p panel, which is also now my main panel for AAA gaming. Not just eSports.

Blur Busters knew they were certifying for the 2.0 they needed to shine, and it's absolutely true. Even without blur reduction with pureXP, the picture quality at 240Hz is incredible. Even at 60Hz, the images are clear, making this monitor suitable for gaming on consoles like the Nintendo Switch.

Excellent motion clarity out of the box also comes with an app that can make it even better. One of the few monitors capable of delivering CRT motion clarity at 60Hz only wanted 1440p and not 1080p. Once you hit 1440p, it's hard to go back.

Basically, bells and whistles are useless because when you use them, the screen goes dark. Even at midnight in my room I couldn't even play on PureXP+ Normal. In the end I settled on the Acer AOPEN 25XV2Q which is about $100 more including US shipping and 390Hz. Highly recommended!

The Viewsonic XG2431 is honestly the best gaming monitor I've ever used. It has the best IPS motion clarity I've seen, both backlit and unlit (even beating many TN panels). Colors are excellent, picture quality is generally very good. All for $330? Not only does it outperform almost every other 240Hz monitor, but it also comes at a great price. What else would you like?
