Vilros Raspberry Basic Starter Official Review

I have a Raspberry Pi 3b+ with Rasplex, works great. I was wanting to get another Raspberry Pi to run Pi Hole, so I grabbed it to see how 4 works. It's just as good, and yes, too much for Pi Hole. ;) My only caveat is that it uses micro HDMI so you need an adapter to connect the display cable which is inconvenient but this kit already includes one which is great! Also, since I'm running a headless device, this is a bit of a nitpick for me.

Happy with the set. It comes with a very helpful guide and is almost complete. One is missing. You'll need a microSD card to store the operating system, so be sure to buy one. I chose a 32GB Sandisk card. Just load the operating system onto a microSD card (I chose Ubuntu Linux, but many people choose Raspbian OS), boot it and you're good to go. I went from opening the box to a working system in under 10 minutes. Two thumbs up.

This is a great kit, it has almost everything you need to get started with your new Pi 4. My guess is that these are mostly official accessories and that they come with heatsinks and an HDMI adapter cable (most don't include an adapter, use universal cases/power supplies for the same price). available USB3 is a major update, works very well as a NAS, Gigabit LAN is the bottleneck now. I had a small flaw with this purchase: there was a processor heatsink in the kit at the time of ordering. Shortly thereafter it was replaced by three radiators, so when I received the order and compared the photos on the internet I thought that two radiators were missing. The kit is ok, I'm not sure if the cooling tape is normal or if it's just double sided tape but overheating doesn't work luckily. You can't kill Pi that fast. An official case might seem like a great idea, but the Pi 4 really benefits from cooling. As for the power adapter, I've never used anything other than official power adapters. The product has been shelved but a bit late.
