After exposure to rain, this film shrinks significantly and then expands to reveal the log at the lap. I have about 10 trees that I had to redo with the same film. Because it has shrunk considerably, I was only able to wrap less with my repackaging than the first time. Overall I like this foil. This year I switched from a 2 inch bandage to a 4 inch bandage. I wrap all newly planted trees for 2-4 years to protect them from game, sunburn, irrigation water and frost. 4" provides good coverage with ample overlap and speeds up the wrapping process. So far it's been more durable when wet than I expected. A thin layer of wax on the inside helps with both self-adhesion and water repellency. Exactly what I expected and hoped for, in a really big roll! This is the same product that was recommended to me when I bought a young acacia tree a few years ago. I've been told to stake the tree and wrap it each winter until the bark is rough and textured (mature tree). When I trimmed the tree this spring, the arborist suggested removing the stakes but wrapping the trunk a few more years.
