Not suitable for all warning ropes/cables.

Agree with others. Not suitable for all warning ropes. Trimming required for VR10 synthetics. It would be nice to know or have a choice. A few minutes with the cutting tool and I have a nice tight fit.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • unreliable

Winch Hook Stopper

Easy to install. So far, so good. It prevents the hook from wrapping around the Hawse winch and fairlead, protecting them from damage. For the other I have a bracket that has its own bumper. You can switch between them for different purposes and applications.

Pros
  • Best of its kind
Cons
  • Quality

Finally! Stopper you install without removing the loop!

Love the design! The last connector I bought required me to remove the hardware at the end of the cable and then reassemble everything. This: 4 screws and voila! Good job, I warn you! Once again you get what you pay for.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Expensive

It looks like it should come with a winch

This hook stopper makes it much easier to secure the hook and maintain line tension after using the winch on our Yamaha Side by Side. I was a bit confused as to where to put the hook stopper on the cable but found it works best right behind the hook to keep the hook from dangling. The quality seems to be ok. I'm sure the winch could destroy the hook stop if we pull the cable too tight, but that's not a disadvantage: winches are very strong.

Works best as expected in tow hook

My winch hook was attached with cable clips and a frayed cable which I wanted a little tidier so I wouldn't get bumped with cable wires and I wanted the stopper to pull as it retracts. This solved both problems. I had to get rid of the cable clamps and crimp the end of the cable with a crimping tool. I put heat shrink tubing on the crimp to better cover the wire ends and placed the Warne winch stop on the crimp just behind the hook. He took care of the problem and did the necessaryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Some small things

You need one of these!

I have a new Warn winch with plastic cable and painted cable. If you use a winch without a fender, you will have to dangle the cable or pull it too hard and scratch the fairlead. If you tighten it, you're likely to damage the cord's plastic cord. This is why I have broken my hook/bracket cable several times in the past. For all of these reasons, you need a buffer between the rope guide and the hook. I would give it 5 stars as it is good value for money and good material but I had to drillโ€ฆ
