Standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO extension header, supports Raspberry Pi series boards. Onboard SC16IS752, expands 2-ch UART and 8 programmable GPIO through I2C, no extra pin required. It is stackable up to 16 this modules by setting the address jumper, that means up to 32-ch UART. Onboard multi LEDs for indicating the UART working status; Reserved I2C control pins, allows to work with other control boards

Good idea, very poor execution

Didn't work. It was possible to send data, but it was not possible to receive data from. The seller's only effort was to reply to my emails, but there was no troubleshooting on their part and they didn't seem to care. I was quite patient with them, but everything has an end. Hence the return. The yellow pins need to be at a 90 degree angle or you won't be able to place the connectors on the bottom if you put them on top of the RPi. I wish DFrobot had something similar.

Works well just a suggestion - see UPDATE

Product works well. I was able to load the Raspberry PI overlay and modify the config.txt file in the boot partition. After rebooting, two UART devices appeared. Much of the vendor's customization was unnecessary and outdated for current Raspberry Pi images. Worked fine on Jessie, not sure on new versions. It's worth noting that what I received had connectors and wires for UART connections. Be careful as the wire colors are reversed on the connector than on the PCB. For example Black and Redโ€ฆ

Works with Arduino Nano

I used this in the Nano project mainly as a test. The Waveshare Arduino library on github (MultiSerial-master.zip) has a feedback sketch that required a change to compile and run, limiting the search for the 4 addresses the code supports to only the first 3. Change 3 to 4 and the compilation errors go away and the test finds and verifies the board. The reverse loop worked well until 38km where I stopped. I saw an ad somewhere that the upper limit on standard divisors was about 76k, I don't need

Great UART header for adding a serial number via max3232

Great product. I have 2 suggestions for improvement. 1. Use larger resistors or set microswitches on the device for address selection and interruption. 2. Include a right angle connector to solder to the GPIO connector and additional documentation for using the onboard GPIO.

Works for me for motherboards

I need (wanted) to have RealTimeClock and GPS with PPS for a time server on the same Raspberry Pi, but found that everyone wants to use those first few pins and UART on the number of pi used to something else. It fit the bill but I was a little put off by the bad review but figured I'd give it a try anyway. After looking at the gps documentation focused on uart pi and the baud rate in that device documentation was directed to setting the baud rate in code (python or c) I thought I had a problem
