Wayne PC4 Repair Kit - Model 56671-WYN1 in Black Review

My boss brought a Wayne PC4 pump from his church with a leaking seal. He wanted to throw everything away because he thought he couldn't find a repair kit for it. So I picked it up and after a minute on Revain I found this kit. I ordered it and when I received the kit I had it restored in 10 minutes. Checked, the pump is like new!

I bought this to repair a Utilitech brand pump after reading reviews that they were all made in China and the parts are mostly interchangeable. As many reviews have said there were no instructions but Wayne had a very good YouTube tutorial video which I watched before ordering. All parts were fully replaceable and once the repair was completed the pump worked perfectly.

I actually bought this to overhaul my dockside cargo pump. and to my surprise I replaced the parts with new ones (of a different brand) to fit there and everything works! A little ingenuity, plumber's lube and a few swear words and it worked! The only thing I have to say about these pumps is that if they run dry for 2 seconds the seal will be destroyed and leak. Take special care that the inlet hose does not accidentally come out of the water supply at any time. At least that is my expierience.

All parts fit perfectly! Except when the motor/pump assembly had a 1/16 inch gap between the housings. Unscrewed the four bolts, primed the pump and let it run for about 20 seconds, it flowed around the large "0" case ring. Now tighten the screws again as they are now loose. repeat this process about three times until the screws are tightened and the space is closed. I liked that the kit is available, Wayne made a pump for Home Depot. I only had two problems, but everything else is fine. 1. There must be instructions for repair, even in the case of a simple part failure. I think there was an extra washer behind the white plastic impeller in the kit, looks like it should have been added as an improvement to the original build, installed and running dry so far. I took the risk that this is what I need for an (apparently) identical pump under the Superior brand because I can't find a kit otherwise that is sold elsewhere specifically for this and I needed it fast. Well it seems like a good kit but the instructions for swapping parts were horribly poor. I have to watch youtube videos to understand this. Bottom line: this kit might be perfect for Wayne pumps (I don't know for sure, maybe it was a design flaw) but the impeller will NOT fit the Superior's…
