Too big for a 40QT/10G kettle

READ THIS BEFORE ORDERING if you have a 40QT/10G kettle. Based on the picture I figured this was the perfect bag for my CONCORD 40QT (14" W x 15.5" H) stove. I was wrong, the bag is 26 inches wide and made a big problem when placed in the cauldron. It left a lot of slack which caused problems when mixing the beans after pouring. My mash spatula kept sticking to the bag. After the mush was done, I pulled the bag out and it basically folded in half because it was too wide. I think a 20"H x 20"…

Excellent results, good for home brewing and winemaking

I made my first whole bean coffee with this pouch. It was an Allagash White clone that turned out to be excellent. The best beer I've ever brewed. The process was very similar to the partial mash I was already familiar with and I was glad I didn't need any additional equipment other than my existing large digester. The rinsing process was a bit dangerous as my wife poured 168 degree water quite close to my hands. Overall the bag was great and the beer turned out fantastic. Great addition to my…

Good for BIAB in brewing

I have used it twice and couldn't be happier. I make BIAB homebrew in an 11 gallon pot and it works great. One suggestion I've read elsewhere is to attach it to the outside of the pot so it slides in. I cut apart an old hanger using clips and they work great for attaching the bag to the handles of my brew kettle after I've tightened the cord. It's also pretty easy to clean. I toss it in a pot of OxyClean to soak in it and it still looks pretty good; a few grains remain, but surprisingly almost…

Ideal for winemaking

Fits 5 gallon brew buckets. My Northern Brewer buckets are labeled up to 5 gallons, but will probably last closer to 6 if filled to the brim. It won't quite hit the bottom; however, i made two wine baths with it, so i can hardly complain about the price. After this second batch, some string comes loose from the stitching, I bet I'll have another drink before I get uncomfortable. reuse. After removing the fruit, I rinse it under running water, then do a couple of dips in a full sink and any bits

  • Absolutely amazing!

Find Another Bag - Kitchen & Dining

My previous bag from another company broke after brewing many batches with it so I bought this BIAB brew bag after seeing the Had read reviews they could hold 15 pounds of grain. From the shipping box the bag looked well assembled. I loaded it with 6 pounds of grain and brewed a batch. The first thing I noticed was that it was very difficult for me to hold the kettle on the teapot despite the cord. I ended up using clothespins to hold it up while mashing. When I got to the point of taking the…

Simple but great for BIAB

Seems to be the best value for money for BIAB. The bag has a bit of an odd shape (quite long) but works well. Because of the length, it's a little weird to compress it, but we just fold it. We use a wide 10g jar and it fits well. It easily fits around the thermometer. It got stuck a couple of times, but the spoon freed it easily without tearing the pouch. We've done about 15 batches with this bag with no issues. The bag holds a 12lb grain bill like a champ. It just works fine as long as you're…

Very nice BIAB bag

It's Brew In A Bag, BTW. You will not use this pack to cook anything. You bring the water to about 155f, line the mash kettle with this bag and secure it around the top of the kettle and slowly pour in the grains, stirring all the time. Cover with a lid and in an hour or two your mash will be ready for the brew kettle, which is ideally also a mash kettle. Pull out the bag, which will be heavy, and drain well. Push it if you can do so safely. If you're brewing very strong beer, you can rinse…
