Surprisingly different.

For most of my life I have used my father's wonderful 1950's Weller soldering iron for hobby use. But eventually it started to wobble. I bought this new Weller as a replacement and was totally disappointed. There are so many frustrating things that it's hard to know where to start. Pros
  • Internationally known for our diverse range of products
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

This gun works well with large terminals. It heats up well and relatively quickly. The biggest problem is the duty cycle, it is rated for 1 minute with 4 minutes rest, which is not even the standard 25% duty cycle based on a 10 minute cycle like all welders. Pros
  • Reliable, designed and used by experts
Cons
  • Some bugs

There must have been a cosmetic issue (outside) that I could see. but when i wanted to use it the switch got stuck. Then it will work, not work while I twisted it. The light didn't work. I found one of them was loose, tightened it and it started to work. then stopped. then started again. As I was looking at it when…
