Checked data storage specs

I installed the drive with no problems. Then I tried to clone the drive with WD/Acronis but the program didn't install. I called WD and they tried politely and at length to "clone" me. After several hours of discussion, WD representatives explained that the drive is designed for RAID systems and that a red, blue, green or black drive has an error check of 7 ms instead of 200 ms or longer. This is because the RAID controller normally performs error detection processes so the drives don't waste…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

Excellent reliability, good for data storage

This hard drive is a great purchase for anyone who has higher demands on their computer or needs a hard drive to work with high reliability. As a demanding IT consultant who works from home most of the time, this drive was part of a new desktop design to improve the reliability of the Western Digital "RAID Edition" for a non-RAID setup. This is how I updated a 3 year average component with 1.2 million hours MTBF. SSD transfer speed, but if you need reliability above all else, this is the drive…

  • Easy to use

Died a month later. No response from seller.

Pretty dissatisfied with it. I understand that hard drives are delicate and refurbished hard drives are no better, but it's still a fact that we spent money on something that died a month or so after we received it. I bought my husband a refurbished hard drive to replace his old one which was 3 years old. It worked fine for a while, but when he tried downgrading his operating system to see if it would stop the constant errors in his games, the hard drive stopped working altogether. I've tried…

  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

I was able to clone the failed hard drive from my wife's hard drive.

I was able to clone a failed drive from my wife's laptop and recovered all her data. When connected to an external USB adapter, the clone slowed down and stopped after about 10 minutes. Hard drives (pulled out internally and inserted into a laptop) and the cloning was complete in about 2 hours (from 250GB to this 500).

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Some little things

NOT NEW Internal Hard Drives

I installed this hard drive in a refurbished server for a customer a little over a year ago, assuming it was a *new* hard drive as advertised. I recently brought the server back to my desktop due to an unrelated issue (power outage). I cloned the drive (clonezilla) to another hard drive to install on another system to get the client working again while waiting for the PSU replacement. Clonezilla detected bad sectors on the original hard drive - WD5002ABYS. I ran SPECCY on it and this drive has…

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

Servertech, Inc. WD hard drive was junk. Revised.

Servertech, Inc. advertised this disc as new but it has been well used. So I have no idea how long it would take. When received it reported an on time of 20428 hours and returned errors during the scan. Most disturbing was the effort that went into hiding the fact that it was a used disc. One reviewer, who I now assume was dishonest, gave high marks and gave a long and detailed review of how good the Enterprise drives are. Of course, if they're new, that's great. But when they're used up…

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
