PROGRAMMING THIS SCANNER IS SPACE SCIENCE!

I've owned a handheld scanner for 25 years and didn't realize that new scanners require bachelor's and master's degrees to program. I was able to program a few stations but it keeps stopping at random numbers and I have no idea why. This scanner is incredibly confusing. Unless you actually worked on the team that developed this scanner, the average Joe isn't going to get it working. I read so much about the complexity of programming this scanner that I almost bought it. I'm glad I didn't, this scanner is amazing, probably the best I've ever had. To get the most out of this scanner, follow these steps.1. Get a radio reference account. It has all available frequencies in USA.2. Download a trial version of the Butel ARC500 software. Whistler has by far the BEST, clearest sound for a digital radio scanner. BUT-

The Whistler TRX-1 is a decent scanner, hampered by bad software and some questionable design decisions. The bottom line is, if you just want an easy-to-use, out-of-the-box scanner, you should probably avoid it.
