Thin, efficient material but inadequate cable ties

We have a constant problem with lint clogging the basement sink where the washing machine drains. In the past we have used store bought lint collectors attached to the washing machine drain hose to collect lint, which is a fairly expensive solution - the pack of 2 lint drain filters is $1.99 with zip ties. However, after a charge or two, the filters will become clogged and will need to be removed and cleaned. These filters are made from fine mesh fabric which works well and 0.49 for two packs…

My rating. 1 star = they don't slip off in the wash 1 star = they actually catch SOME lint 1 star = easy to apply minus 1 star = small zip ties that come with the product had to buy big and thick ones minus 1 star = nylon in between when testing and this product is shaded compared to nylon! I put this on my machine and ran 3 loads of laundry and it caught some quarter ball sized lint. I found it odd as I fish nylons a lot more so I put on nylon and ran 3 loads and ended up with a ball of lint…

Surprisingly good traps but short cords

Since it was so much cheaper than buying aluminum mesh traps from the hardware store, I took a chance. I was positively surprised! They catch just as much, if not more, lint than aluminum mesh. But since they're more flexible, I can squeeze a lot more life out of them by pushing the bristles all the way down. (I rinse the traps with water to shake the lint off the walls, or wait for them to dry and gently stretch the nylon so the inner layer of lint flakes off and falls to the bottom of the…
