had run out. I bought two of these bits, one with the top bearing and one with the bottom. I've used it in a portable router and desk and the bits are AMAZING! There are no breaks and I think they offer better control than a regular straight edger. IMHO it's worth the money.
This accessory delivers exceptionally smooth cuts. It is designed for a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm. I've had great results at this speed on desktop machines. I've tried using it in a manual router with less than satisfactory results. The aggressive cut it produces isn't very manageable. I've also found that running above 18,000 rpm causes rattling and poor trimming. When used as directed, this is an excellent tool.
I've been using this bit in my router for almost a week now. It's a beast! I use it on thick wood which is very hard and chips easily. I also cut out a lot of curves. The resulting cuts are very smooth (no sanding required if you don't want to) with no chipping. Yes, it's a very expensive part, but I needed reliable and accurate cuts for a very large project I'm working on (I consider it a family heirloom). You have to decide if your project warrants such an investment, but for me it's worth…
