An important detail is missing from the instructions. The clips have a small protrusion on the inside, there is a groove on the outside of the clip to show where the protrusion is on the inside. When mounting clamps to bars, you MUST align the groove on the outside of the clamp with the grooves in the bars (the bars have grooves around them every few inches).
