First of all, it is cheap for this size. Even a rough stone, it acts quickly. Don't expect a perfect stone for the price, there are a few bumps and ridges around the edge, but use a few minutes or run steel over them and they will go away. I got this to reshape blades after a lot of use and put the tip back on pocket knives and it works great for that, takes little time.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Good knife sharpener

I have been using this sharpener almost daily for over a month now. The smooth side was rougher than I expected when I opened the packaging, but it has worn to a good degree and works very well with my smooth-edged kitchen knives. I've found that you don't need expensive knives if the ones you have are made of quality steel and you take good care of them. I've also found that you need to look at the angles the blade made when you bought the knife and always sharpen the knife at the same angles.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Double sided high quality large sharpening stone

This stone is double sided (coarse and less rough) and much longer than I thought it would be: around 8" or 10" long. I've used it to sharpen all sorts of things: chisels, knives, ax heads, etc. With a bit of whet oil, you can give your blade a nice sharpness with this stone. I've noticed that a rougher, less sharp (serrated) blade can wear down the stone fairly quickly, leaving scratched and jagged spots on the stone. But that's probably my fault: hitting those areas with a file first before…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Negative impression

We bought this stone to sharpen both our regular kitchen knives and my husband's (professional chef) chef's knives. The stone is quite long (12 inches) and of good width (about 1.5 inches thick). This is not natural stone. So if you are looking for something natural then this is not what you need. This is a great sharpening stone though, so if that's what you're looking for, look no further. For this price you get a high quality stone with fine to medium grit. We used a stone with water, I…

  • Very good price

Chips on the corners, very rough

This sharpening stone is extra large, 12" x 2.5" x 1.5" and is the largest stone I currently own. All my other stones are 8" long. While the longer size is fine I have no need for this - my 8" stones were enough for all my grinding needs. This stone was actually a bit difficult to store as it is much larger than my other stones. I have a plastic basket for all of them my stones and this one had to be placed diagonally to fit. I use stones to sharpen knives and woodworking tools. I find the…

Pros
  • Everything in order!
Cons
  • socket required.

Firstly if you have a Vinco near you it's 5 bucks cheaper there (didn't know :( ) this stone has problems! Like many of them! but regardless of my low star the stone is his Value for money! You have to be careful even though this stone sticks! So if you don't know what you are doing or don't learn how to sharpen safely you might come by for this reason!Stay where it is If you suddenly smack in the middle Grabbing the blade in one fell swoop and your fingers slipping off the blade can be very…

Я только что получил этот Winco - 12-дюймовый точильный камень для ножей с мелким/зернистым покрытием, тонкий - средний, и он мне pleases. I needed a larger, double-sided, fine-grain stone to work on my utility blades before giving them the final finish. This works great for my purpose. Should be enough for me in the long run. I plan to take a 2x4 piece and route it for this stone and glue another shaped top edge to cover the stone almost directly on the work surface. I have a few sharpening…

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Nothing here

I had a set of molybdenum knives over 30 years old that were so dull you couldn't cut your finger. My bread knives were sharper. Knowing that molybdenum is a bit more difficult to sharpen than other steels, I wanted to use a medium/coarse grit stone to at least get them to the edge. This is not a capstone, but it is not called a capstone either (it says "middle" on the right in the description). I'm upset that the description doesn't list grit, so I'm guessing. But whatever the grit, it really…
